How Do You Know if it is Dirty?
How Do You Know If It Is Dirty? How Do You Know If It Is Clean? You walk down a corridor and “dust bunnies and debris” are piled up in every corner. You cannot invite guests into this environment. Or, you pick up a soup bowl and prepare to fill it with your favourite lunch only to find that it is already occupied with the crusty remains of a former meal. You cannot eat from this bowl.
But what about your HVAC equipment? It is generally well hidden. Out of sight – out of mind! How can you know if it is dirty? After all, you wouldn’t want to be breathing dirty air, would you?
Here again, the visual inspection is your first line of defense. At Clean Air Services, we offer two levels of inspection services. The first one, we call a FREE PRELIMINARY EVALUATION. This is our lightweight visual inspection and it is used primarily when you already suspect that you have a problem and want verification. We will look at a couple of key areas within a system and provide a pictorial report and we will also provide you a budget to remediate any obvious issues.
The second level of inspection service is our FULL ASSESSMENT and involves in-depth determination of the hygienic condition of all components of all HVAC systems within your facility. The report generated becomes a valuable tool for the planning of future maintenance.
So what if you have discovered visual evidence that there is dirt, dust, debris, foreign material, pollutants, contaminating substances and/or biological growth present within your HVAC system?
Remedial action must be taken. In the case of your cluttered corridor, you call in the custodial personnel and point out the problem. They come equipped with brooms, vacuum cleaners and other implements designed for this type of work. In the case of the soup bowl, it goes back to the dishwasher for another round. For your HVAC cleaning needs, all you need to do is call Clean Air Services. We will handle your HVAC hygiene problem in a thorough and professional manner.
And once remedial action has been taken, how do you know if it is clean?
Once again, the visual inspection is your first line of defense. If you walk down the corridor and the clutter remains, the custodial staff have not done their job. If you pick up the soup bowl and the offending substance is still present, your dishwasher has not done a thorough job. When Clean Air Services cleans your HVAC equipment, we provide you with a post-cleaning inspection and incorporate our findings in a pictorial report. We always welcome third party verification. IAQ consultants generally provide this service for a reasonable fee.
In addition to the visual inspection, we can provide gravimetric testing, magnehelic (pressure drop) readings across the coils and biological sampling.
The bottom line is; you don’t need to guess. You can know if the air in your facility is clean or dirty. All you really need to do is call Clean Air Services.
